A stage, studio, and touring expert, having been a session drummer for the Ichiban Record Company in Atlanta. He has brought what he learned from his mentor and World-Class Drummer Billy Cobham To his own style of drumming. He is the drummer in the Movie and on the Soundtrack ?The Color Purple? having the honor of working with Quincy Jones. He can also be seen in the church scene of the film. Other artist he has appeared with are James Taylor, Andre Crouch, Al Jarreau, Chaka Kahn, Curtis Mayfield, The Chairmen of the Board, Bill Pickney and The Original Drifters, David Sandborn, and many others.
Almost every jazz musician I know dreams about owning his or her own club. If I had my own place, I'd want it to be just like the Jazz Corner. It's one of the classiest, "grooviest" clubs in which I've had the pleasure of performing. (I'm still trying to figure out if it's a great jazz club that's also a first-class restaurant, or the other way around!)
