In the coming weeks and months, you will be hearing lots of chatter and talk at The Jazz Corner and on the website about our monumental 10 year celebration of being in business. In that 10 years we have earned the reputation as a premier jazz club in the world and we intend to celebrate it that way with you, our closest and most valued friends and patrons. Among the projects we are working on include two outreach concerts and 8 full concert weekends at the club with the beneficiary being our beloved Junior Jazz Foundation. Please stay tuned because we are very excited about joining forces with our closest friends to celebrate.
Post a Comment : 0 commentsI was very humbled to receive the heartwarming news that I have been selected as the first winner of the Beaufort County Arts Council and Mayor’s award for excellence. It is especially satisfying at this point in my life, having devoted well over 50 years in this great art form with a significant portion of recent activity being centered on helping deserving youth get exposure to this great art form.
We at The Jazz Corner take this award as a great form of recognition and we will continue to pursue programs designed to help all of the youth in our community, who, through curiosity and spirit , exhibit the desire to learn and play music of this nature.
I thank all those who have supported our Junior Jazz Program and urge you to continue to do so.
I will receive the award on Wednesday evening at the Beaufort County Arts Council Office and will do so on behalf of all who have stood by us through the years.
Welcome to the new site for BobJazz, one of the key elements in our new and world class website www.thejazzcorner.com!
BobJazz will be a cutting edge information and education tool for all jazz lovers featuring but not limited to the following features:
1.A daily jazz blog which will contain items of current interest in the jazz world along with my personal narrative on trends, personalities and activities
2. Musical critiques on both current and historical jazz recordings and transmissions and comments on the personal side of the jazz business.
3. Recommended venues for jazz lovers both locally and regionally.
Most importantly, I plan to write a book on my life as a Jazz lover, musician, club owner and connect it to culture and the evolution of just plain living in a jazz environment and reflection on lessons learned and gems of learning that have emerged from such an evolution. Our plan is to write it as a work in process and using the blog to connect with you and get your thoughts before we go to final print. A rather exciting approach to an exciting subject.
I sincerely hope you connect with this novel approach and I look forward to an exciting chapter in the continuing development of The Jazz Corner and our various Jazz venued.
